Alan Barrie
As a student, Alan Barrie achieved 1st class honours, an MPhil in Medieval History at Cambridge University, before completing his PhD through UQ. A teacher of history and ancient history in Queensland for 21 years, he also in that time has been Chief Examiner, Panel member, resource and syllabus writer for QCAA, and was the lead author of the Cambridge University Press textbook for Ancient History in Queensland. He has presented in numerous conferences across Australia.
Sarah Coleman
Sarah is currently employed at Trinity Anglican School in Cairns, where she is Head of Faculty – English. With 13 years of teaching experience in the Independent and Catholic sectors in Queensland, Sarah is a passionate history educator, and has presented at both the QHTA and HTAA conferences.
Simon Corvan
Simon is currently employed at All Hallows’ School as the Head of Teaching, Learning and Professional Practice where he is responsible for the continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices and the further enhancement of the school’s academic culture. Previously Simon was the Head of Social Sciences at All Hallows’.
Glenn Davies
Glenn has been a secondary history teacher in Queensland schools since 1991. He has been a Head of Department since 1997, and is currently Head of Social Science at Craigslea State High School and currently lectures in History Method at Australian Catholic University. He has been member of the State Executive, Queensland History Teachers’ Association since 2003, presented at QHTA and HTAA National Conferences, participated in various Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority committees, and previously written five secondary history textbooks.
Jenna Haywood
Jenna currently teaches English and History at Genesis Christian College in Brisbane. Along with holding positions such as Head of English (Senior) across her career, she specialises in Ancient History and was part of the staff team who led a group of senior students on the College’s first Humanities European Study Tour to Italy, France and the United Kingdom.
Benjamin Hegerty
Benjamin Hegerty (lead author: History) is a History teacher and Head of Humanities and Social Sciences at Stuartholme School in Brisbane. He is an executive member and past Vice-President of the Queensland History Teachers’ Association (QHTA) and has contributed to the QCAA in various roles, as the Brisbane Central District Review Panel Chair for Ancient History, QCAA Subject Matter Expert for Ancient History, Lead Endorser and Lead Confirmer. Ben was involved as a contributing author for the Cambridge University Press textbook, Senior Ancient History for Queensland.
Diana Platt
Diana Platt is currently employed as Curriculum Leader Junior Religion at Carmel College Thornlands, where she has taught for the last 7 years. She has been a teacher of Ancient History for over 5 years in 2 different schools and has been a district panel member for 3 years. She has previously taught at 2 other schools. She is excited to be involved in projects that create worthwhile resources for students and teachers.

Georgia Williams
Georgia is an archaeologist and coordinates projects relating to archaeology and outreach in her role as Education Program Coordinator at Everick Foundation. She graduated with the University Medal and first-class honours from the University of Queensland in 2022. She is also the co-chair of the Australian National Committee for Archaeology Teaching and Learning (ANCATL).
Michael Cocks
Michael began teaching in 2011 and is a senior History teacher at Toowoomba Grammar School in Queensland. Michael also runs the educational History website, www.HistorySkills.com. Furthermore, Michael Cocks is a fact-checker for the BBC History Magazine, was a 2015 finalist in the QCT Teaching Excellence Awards and is a Microsoft Innovative Education Expert.

Rashna Taraporewalla
Rashna Taraporewalla is a trained ancient historian and classical archaeologist. She has lectured Ancient History students within the School of History, Philosophy, Religion and Classics at the University of Queensland and has also lectured at Queensland University of Technology, teaching Education students the content of the syllabus. Rashna is currently teaching History at Brisbane Girls Grammar School.
