Cambridge Senior Mathematics for Queensland: Essential Mathematics offers a practical interpretation of the syllabus and innovative digital capabilities to encourage students to understand concepts and apply their skills within a real-world context.
Written specifically for the new Queensland syllabus by an experienced team of Queensland educators who have taught at all levels and at all types of schools and have much success with developing resources for Prevocational Mathematics.
Offers clear opportunities for teachers to differentiate learning and cater for the various needs of students taking this subject, including scaffolded questions for learning and unscaffolded questions for assessment practice.
Encourages students to solve mathematical problems in contexts that are relevant to their lives and future careers, and will prepare them for their internal assessments.
Provides vital revision and assessment preparation:
A test of prerequisite knowledge and skills is given at the start of each chapter. For those who need to revise, the Interactive Textbook links to previous years' lessons on Cambridge HOTmaths.
Assessment-style questions are provided in the chapter reviews, with Degree-of-difficulty indicated and cross-referenced to the section in the chapter.
Superior internal assessment support includes practice exams and PSMTs for QCAA assessment requirements (IA1, IA2/CIA, IA3 and IA4) in the Interactive Textbook, along with a complete second set in the Online Teaching Suite, unseen by students. Solutions or model answers are provided.
The Online Teaching Suite combines the Interactive Textbook powered by Cambridge HOTmaths and its rich digital resources with a suite of supplementary resources and a powerful Learning Management System.
Additional online support for teachers:
Full access to the Interactive Textbook, powered by Cambridge HOTmaths.
Comprehensive, editable curriculum grids and teaching programs are available in the Online Teaching Suite and on Cambridge GO.
Additional practice exams and problem-solving-and-modelling tasks.
An online test-generator allows for the creation of customised tests from a large bank of questions. Tests can be completed online for automarking or saved as PDFs and printed.
The Online Teaching Suite records student results and reports on individual and class progress when linked to students using the Interactive Textbook. Teachers can see students' working, summaries of self-assessment, completion rate of students' work and questions they have flagged as difficult.
Access to student Workspaces entries allows for efficient and time-saving monitoring of work and provides students with the opportunity to alert teachers to problems they have with specific questions.
An easy-to-use Task Manager allows teachers to assign specific activities to individuals, groups or whole classes, helping to differentiate learning. The Task Manager reports on task completion as well as results.
Digital worked solutions are provided with all student textbooks, and teachers may choose to make these available to their students or restrict them to suit the needs of their class.
