About the authors

The most authoritative coverage of the new Study Design to guide students from accounting fundamentals through to exam-readiness.

What’s new:

  • New questions ask students to model the implications of a range of accounting decisions and explore the financial and ethical considerations involved.
  • Headstart content, available in the Units 1&2 book, provides an introduction to Unit 3 including a chapter on the General Ledger.
  • Tools for students to take control of their learning include worked example videos, Learning Intentions, and assessment-style exercises.

Now improved:

  • Content and activities are carefully scaffolded to build skills, with a clear, student friendly layout and colour coding allowing transactions to be followed visually.
  • The practical workbook, aligned with exercise questions, adopts a similar incremental learning approach to help students practice and develop their accounting skills and revise and prepare for their VCE exams.
  • Comprehensive exam preparation support includes the gradual increase in difficulty of concepts and activities, the consistent use of VCAA command terms, study tips, and review questions, plus exam-style exercises per chapter that align to the print workbook and downloadable pro-formas.
  • Teachers can feel confident that they are using the most accurate and up-to-date resources available. All review questions, exercises and solutions have been thoroughly reviewed by experienced accounting educators, and our trusted team of expert authors are now supported by series editors, Darrell Cruse and Erin McEwan, who provide a fresh classroom teacher perspective and authoritative interpretation of the new Study Design.
  • Supporting resources for teachers include projectable PowerPoint files per chapter; downloadable and editable activities; solutions for all exercises and review questions; practice exams per Outcome; course outlines per Unit.

Anthony Simmons B.Comm, Dip.Ed, M.Ed (Ed. Management) is Head of McNab House at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School. Having spent over 20 years as a teacher of VCE Accounting, he has made important contributions to the understanding of how students learn the discipline and thinking of Accounting, and how that should influence the way in which the subject is taught. Anthony has been an examination assessor for many years and was also involved in writing and reviewing the VCE curriculum (including this Study Design). Through his involvement in this textbook series, Comview, VCTA professional learning sessions with teachers, student lectures and published articles, Anthony has been a leading voice on how Accounting is taught and learned.
