Anthony Simmons
Anthony Simmons B.Comm, Dip.Ed, M.Ed (Ed. Management) is Head of McNab House at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School. Having spent over 20 years as a teacher of VCE Accounting, he has made important contributions to the understanding of how students learn the discipline and thinking of Accounting, and how that should influence the way in which the subject is taught. Anthony has been an examination assessor for many years and was also involved in writing and reviewing the VCE curriculum (including this Study Design). Through his involvement in this textbook series, Comview, VCTA professional learning sessions with teachers, student lectures and published articles, Anthony has been a leading voice on how Accounting is taught and learned.
Richard Hardy
Richard Hardy B.Ec (Accounting), G Dip.Ed, PG EdAdmin, M.Ed (Admin) is Dean of Academic Administration at Clayfield College. He has taught Accounting for over 20 years and has been a presenter at Comview and VCTA professional development sessions. Richard has also been a VCE Accounting Examination Assessor and part of the examination writing panel. He continues to instil his passion for Accounting to all of his students.
Darrell Cruse
Darrell Cruse B.Bus, (Accounting), Dip.Ed., Chartered Accountant, teaches VCE Accounting at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School. Darrell worked in Public Practice Accounting firms for over a decade before lecturing at RMIT and Victoria University as well as being a Focus Session Facilitator and Examination Assessor for the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has also worked as the Director of a bookkeeping business, provided training for outsourcing companies and managed the Accounting stream of Comview. Darrell’s nearly 20 years of teaching has reinforced his belief that educators should contribute to their profession, leading him to become a member of the VCTA Board as well as a regular presenter for VCTA teacher training and student lectures. Darrell believes students should have a strong technical knowledge and thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of Accounting.
Erin McEwan
Erin is an experienced educator, presenter, facilitator, and former Chartered Accountant with practical experience in both large and mid-tier accounting firms. She has now taught VCE Accounting for 15 years after transitioning from her prior career to secondary education. Erin’s journey over this time has been marked by a commitment to technical excellence and a passion for sharing and developing transferable skills. As the current Head of Commerce at Camberwell Girls Grammar School, Erin continues to inspire, empower, and nurture the next generation of business minds.
