Terms and Conditions
1. These Terms and Conditions govern the Competition. All other information provided prior to entering the Competition, including any instructions on how to enter the Competition, form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this Competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Any entry not complying with these Terms and Conditions is invalid.
WHO CAN ENTER
2. Entry is only open to secondary students in Victoria, Australia, who have a valid Instagram account. Employees (and their immediate families) of Cambridge University Press are ineligible to enter.
3. Cambridge University Press reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and postcode) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an Entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions will be accepted at Cambridge University Press’ discretion. Incomplete or indecipherable entries will be deemed invalid.
HOW TO ENTER
4. To enter, eligible individuals must;
1. Post an original photo of on the Entrant’s own Instagram account that reflects the current monthly theme. At the 1st of each month a new theme will be announced and the Monthly Winner will be announced on the first business day of the following month.
2. Tag the photo with the hashtag #vcecheckpoints.
3. Enter your details at www.cambridge.edu.au/vcecheckpoints
All three of these tasks will constitute one Entry (an ‘Entry’).
5. PHOTO OF THE MONTH: 9 Monthly prizes will be awarded, one each month. Each Monthly Winner will choose a $50 eGift card from a range if providers including JB HiFi, Myer, David Jones, rebel sport, Hoyts and more.
HOW TO WIN
7. The Competition commences at 9am AEST on Thursday 1st February 2018 and closes at 5pm AEST on Wednesday 17th October 2018 (the “Competition Period”). Final Entries must be uploaded and tagged, and details entered into www.cambridge.edu.au/vcecheckpoints before 5pm on Wednesday 17th October 2018.
8. On the first business day of each month, a Monthly Winner will be selected for the previous month. The Monthly Winners shall be determined at Cambridge University Press, 477 Williamstown Road, Port Melbourne, VIC 3207 and announced on the first business day of the following month.
9. At the conclusion of the Competition Period, one (1) Entry will be selected as the Overall Winner of the Competition. The Overall Winner shall be determined at Cambridge University Press, 477 Williamstown Road, Port Melbourne, VIC 3207 and announced on Friday 19th October 2018.
10. Monthly and Overall Winners will be selected by a panel appointed by Cambridge University Press, at Cambridge University Press’ sole discretion. Each Entry will be judged on creative merit. This is a competition of skill and chance plays no part in the determination of the Monthly Winners or the Overall Winner.
11. The panel’s decision is final and binding upon all entrants and no correspondence will be entered into. Entrants who are not winners will not receive any notification at all. The Winner shall be notified via an Instagram post on their winning Entry, followed by a confirmation message on our website www.cambridge.edu.au/education
THE MAJOR PRIZE
12. The Overall Winner will receive the Major Prize as set out at clause 6 above.
13. The total retail value of the Major Prize is up to the value of AUD$1200 (One thousand two hundred Australian dollars).
14. The Major Prize must be taken as stated and is not transferable to another person (unless agreed to by Cambridge University Press) or exchangeable for other goods and services and cannot be redeemed for cash.
15. If a Winner is not contactable or the Major Prize is not claimed by the Overall Winner prior to 1st December 2018 the Major Prize will be forfeited and will be awarded to an alternate winner. Cambridge University Press reserves the right to reselect an alternative Winner as necessary to distribute the Major Prize/s subject to any directions given by the relevant authority.
16. If the Major Prize is unavailable for any reason, Cambridge University Press, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the Major Prize with a gift to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority.
MONTHLY PRIZES
17. The Monthly Winner will receive a Monthly Prize as set out at clause 5 above.
18. The total retail value of teach Monthly Prize is AUD$50 (Fifty Australian dollars).
19. Each Monthly Winner will choose a $50 eGift card from a range if providers including JB HiFi, Myer, David Jones, rebel sport, Hoyts and more. The Monthly Prizes must be taken as stated and is not transferable to another person (unless agreed to by Cambridge University Press) or exchangeable for other goods and services and cannot be redeemed for cash.
20. If a Winner is not contactable or the Monthly Prize is not claimed by the Monthly Winner before the end of the following month, the Monthly Prize will be forfeited and will be awarded to an alternate Monthly Winner. ENTRIES
22. Multiple entries are accepted as long as the Entrant has met all the entry criteria on each submission.
23. The Entrant warrants that the photograph(s)) submitted is the Entrant’s original work entirely owned by the Entrant.
24. The Entrant acknowledges and agrees that his or her Entry will not be obscene, defamatory, libelous, threatening, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or encouraging of conduct that would be considered a criminal offence, gives rise to civil liability, or violate any law. Cambridge, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to reject or disqualify any entry that contains offensive or copyright material.
25. The Entrant confirms and warrants that they have full power and authority to enter into this agreement and hereby indemnifies Cambridge University Press from and against any and all costs and damages incurred as a result of any breach of these Terms and Conditions.
26. When taking photos featuring identifiable people you should obtain written consent from the subjects if they are over 18 years old or from their parents or guardian if under 18 years old. Cambridge University Press can supply release forms on request.
RELEASE FOR PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES
27. The Monthly Winners and Overall Winner agree to participate in any promotional activities associated with Competition such as a news blog post or interview for the Cambridge University Press education website www.cambridge.edu.au/education. The Winners agree to Cambridge University Press using their Entries for any purpose related to the Prize and Competition.
EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY
28. If this Competition is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of Cambridge University Press, they reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law (a) to disqualify any entrant; or (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the promotion, as appropriate.
